How to...create a trend 'Lollipop Jungle'
Hello and welcome to the first in our series of How to….
Our first How to is all about Trends. A lot of people have asked how did we know what was on trend when we developed our first range. There isn’t childrenswear trends as such so you need to look elsewhere for inspiration.
There is a full video over on our youtube channel.
Below we’ve pulled out the 5 key steps.
Step 1
We looked at the womenswear catwalks for SS16. We saw lots of bright, bold fresh colours coming though. Christopher Kane being a prime example.
We also noticed animal print at Gucci and lots overall prints and clash coming through with brands that tend to stay clear of this look such as Victoria Beckham and Tommy Hilfigure
Step 2
We compared notes with the menswear catwalk. Richard James was just one of a host of big menswear players who agreed.
Step 3
Look at the other big influences surrounding you. For me this was interiors. Muted palettes of keys were having big injections of colour added. Alongside this animal prints and more interesting mix of prints was starting to peep through
Step 4
Create a swatch board. This can be online on something like pinterest or ripping out and sticking down magazines swatches.
Step 5
Make it all make sense and create a title and a colour palette that pulls it altogether. As we are creating a childrenswear collection we wanted a fun playful element that wasn’t too grown up.
This is how we created Lollipop Jungle. The most beautiful mood board is by the amazing Loop Draws.
