5 Easy Magic Tricks For Kids

Little Hotdog Watson Kids Cub Hat with Neck Flap: Giraffe

We love finding fun ways to get our little ones to try new activities, and magic is one of our personal favourites!

We like to think what we do here at Little Hotdog Watson is a little slice of magic too: creating cool, comfortable hats for kids (and some for adults!) with UPF 50+ rating and built in mosquito repellent! Check out our range of summer and winter hats for children here!

Who said home education needs to be boring. Instead of reading, writing and arithmetic, let’s mix it up and add in some magic. Something, light-hearted, fun and you can both become magicians together.

Below are five simple tricks that kids will love to learn and practise with you. A little bit of fun and a party skill for later in life.

To add to the magic, grab a blanket that can work as a cape, choose a magic word to shout when you do the tricks and remember you can always create a little stage in your living room and make a show for extra fun.

1. How to Bend any Spoon

This is an easy and a goody. It can be learnt in two minutes and it will make dinnertimes way more fun

2. The Disappearing Tooth Pick

This is the EASIEST of all the tricks!! This video also has 4 other super easy and fun tricks that the kids will love too

3. Learn to Levitate

Seems impossible right? Well this shows you how to do a mini levitation inside the house. One for the slightly older kids (7 and up)

4. The Disappearing Coin

The simplest way to make a coin disappear and impress everyone!! This is a super easy one even for smaller kids!

Looking for more ways to have fun with your family? Why not check out our blog on how to make a family car journey fun here!

5. How to Walk through a Piece of A4 Paper

This is a fun trick that puzzles people. Get your little one to hand out the paper and scissors and ask if anyone can cut a hole big enough to climb through first. When no-one (or you) can’t then they start the trick. It’s all in the cutting and super fun

I hope you’ve enjoyed the magic. Are there any other tricks you have learnt with your little one you’d love to share?

Emma Watson, Owner, Little Hotdog Watson

After growing up in the North-west of England, Emma’s love of travel and style saw her career move to London with a fashion + business degree,  first working as a trend researcher then menswear buyer for some of the most famous stores in the UK.

In 2015, having had her first baby she moved to Norwich to explore a family life closer to beaches and the countryside. Becoming a parent she found herself in a world of kidswear that didn’t look good or perform for the type of fresh air fun as a family so she set about creating her own brand. Little Hotdog Watson was born in 2016. The summer and winter hats for kids and adults, jam-packed with innovative protective technology have gone on to win awards, grace the pages of magazines, like Vogue, Grazia, Independent, Mother and Baby and celebrities alike.

Emma had another daughter in 2019 and became a lecturer in Fashion and Business at Norwich University of the Arts.  She continues to design hats at her dining room table and share her passion to help families get outside more and explore the world. Here is one of her favourite outside blogs; 15 games adults will love playing with kids
